On Saturday, November 1, in response to the request of Archbishop and Metropolitan of Lviv, Most Rev. Ihor Vozniak, and at the invitation of the Protohegumen of the Province of the Most Holy Saviour, Fr. Yosyf Kralka, OSBM, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk, Most Rev. Volodymyr Viytyshyn, conferred diaconal ordinations upon seven monks of the Order of Saint Basil the Great (OSBM) at the Church of the Synaxis of the Most Holy Mother of God located at the Basilian Monastery of St. Joseph in Bryuhovychi.

The solemn celebration brought together the community of the Basilian Institute of Philosophical and Theological Studies named after Metropolitan Yosyf Veliamyn Rutsky, the hieromonks of St. Joseph Monastery, invited clergy, and relatives of the newly ordained hierodeacons.

During the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Volodymyr was joined in concelebration by Bishop Emeritus Ihor Isichenko, Fr. Yosyf Kralka (the Provincial Superior), Fr. Artemiy Novitsky (superior of the monastery), and other Basilian hieromonks.

In the course of the Liturgy, the Archbishop ordained the following monks of the Order of Saint Basil the Great to the diaconate: Bro. Yosafat Nadych, Bro. Markiyan Korol, Bro. Kypriyan Savshak, Bro. Serafym Boyuk, Bro. Toma Bren, Bro. Davyd Saban, and Bro. Thadey Dankevych.

At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Volodymyr expressed gratitude to Archbishop Ihor, the Basilian superiors, clergy, and all those present for their common prayer, and warmly congratulated the newly ordained hierodeacons on receiving the first degree of the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

Fr. Yosafat Kralka and Fr. Artemiн Novшtsky also offered words of thanks to the Archbishop for celebrating the Divine Liturgy and administering the ordinations. The newly ordained hierodeacons, in turn, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Metropolitan Volodymyr for his fatherly care and blessing.

The celebration concluded with the singing of the spiritual hymn “O Great and One God” (Bozhe Velykyi, Yedynyi) — a prayer for peace in Ukraine and for the nation’s ongoing struggle for freedom and independence.
