GENERAL CURIA OF THE BASILIAN ORDER OF ST. JOSAPHAT

The seat of the General Curia of the Basilian Order is the monastery in Rome. The General Curia is headed by the Protoarchimandrite, i.e. the Superior General, who is assisted in the administration of the Order by the General Chapter, which elects four General Counsellors.  The Protoarchimandrite, with their consent, appoints the General Treasurer and the General Secretary.

The General Council of the Basilian Order

The Protoarchimandrite (Chief Superior of the Order) is the Hierarch in the Order. He represents the Order before the Universal Church and society, is the legal representative of the Order and has the power of governance both internally and externally, in relation to all monks and everything related to the management of both spiritual and material affairs of all Structures and Monastic centers of the Order, in accordance with the norms of general law and the Constitutions of the Basilian Order.

Biography of the Right Reverend Father Protoarchimandrite Robert Lisseiko, OSBM

Father Robert Roman Lisseiko (born in 1976) comes from the Ukrainian Province of the Most Holy Saviour. In July 1993, he entered the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat, where he took solemn vows on June 1, 2000. After philosophical and theological studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University, he was ordained a priest on July 8, 2001, and for four years worked in the Apostolic Exarchate for Ukrainian Catholics of the Byzantine Rite in Germany. In 2005-2007, he continued his studies in Rome, earning a licentiate in philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University. In 2007-2012, he was the superior of St. Joseph’s Monastery and rector of the Basilian Institute of Philosophical and Theological Studies in Bryukhovychi. In 2013-2017, he studied at the Institute of Psychology of the Pontifical Gregorian University. Since 2016, he has been a spiritual director at the Pontifical Ukrainian College of St. Josaphat, and since May 26, 2021, he has been the First Counselor of the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat.
